Truly a Piece of Paradise, Your Home Away from Home!!!
The Lagoon House is an extraordinary
Big Island Oceanfront Vacation Rental house, located in the private gated
community of Kapoho Beach Lots. This gracious and comfortable 3 bedroom
and 2 bath vacation home is wonderfully situated on its' own PRIVATE, calm,
clear, warm water lagoon, adjacent to the beautiful turtle filled Champagne
Pond and the open ocean. Our thermally heated ocean fed water is about
87 degrees, and is filled with many HUNDREDS of colorful Hawaiian reef
fish. As far as we know, this is the ONLY Snorkeling
Aquarium of it's kind in the World! The fish are very beautiful, friendly
and accustomed to being fed daily, so it is great fun to watch the feeding
action from in/under the water or on the deck or patio when you offer
them food. Snorkeling in our calm, warm lagoon is an easy way to explore
Hawaii's underwater wonders and is enjoyable for all ages, from children
to grandparents.

Lagoon House...
The BIG ISLAND VISITORS BUREAU website prominently features the LagoonHouse and the Meet Puffy video
European TV Travel Channel
filming a fish feeding sequence
at Lagoon House.
Quote from Elite Magazine: "Lagoon House has the alluring selling point of sitting on a 10,000-square-foot tidal lagoon, a walled inlet of the ocean.
The lagoon has the rare distinction of being naturally (volcanically) heated to bathwater temperature. There's more: The pool contains huge numbers of Hawaiian reef fish which love the warm water as much as the owners and guests. For snorkelers it's a Travel Channel moment."
The
views from the deck and inside the house are beautiful. Layers of calm,
sparkling waters carry your eye to the ocean and the breaking waves
beyond. You can lie in the comfort
of a beautiful mahogany sleigh bed and quality Ralph Lauren sheets
and watch a beautiful sunrise or moonrise over the ocean
and palm trees. There is large wrap around lanai, cantilevered over
the water, with lounges and table and chairs-- perfect for
catching some rays, eating your meals, relaxing with a book, and
watching a multitude of stars in the night sky.
For
fans of the "Wizard of Oz", Lagoon House has an extraordinary
collection of personal, stage and screen memorabilia of Ray Bolger,
who played the Scarecrow in this classic movie. A custom cabinet contains
Ray Bolger's dance shoes, top hat, and numerous photos and awards from
his personal collection. Gwen and Ray Bolger's niece, Ann, is the wife
of Lagoon House owner Richard Thompson.
They live nearby on their
6 acre organic farm and will provide you with vases of beautiful
tropical flowers and a bowl of homegrown organic fruit in season---avocados,
bananas, starfruit, citrus, etc. when you check in.
Beautiful, sunny Kapoho is located about 40 minutes
from Hilo on the eastern tip of the Big Island. It is one
of the sunniest spots on the windward side, receiving about
half as much rain as Hilo, mostly falling at night. Kapoho
is reported to have the cleanest air in the United States.
Very few people get to experience anything
like Lagoon Houses' unique location and warm water snorkeling lagoon. Lagoon
House is available year round and has been one of the most popular
vacation rentals on the east side of the Big Island for over 10 years.
To avoid disappointment, book early for reservations, especially during
high seasons, winter and summer. In this unique and comfortable home
you can enjoy the relaxed, easy island lifestyle far from the usual tourist
crowds.
On
this site, you can take a pictorial tour, view a
list of Lagoon fish, find information on the house's many
amenities and accommodations, get an over all view of
our location through photos and maps, read reviews
in the guestbook, and look at our rates and reservations,
